Thanksgiving Rocks!
Ian | 11/30/2003 | 9:09 am

I finally took a few days off over Thanksgiving to go visit some of my family in DC. Other than the 2 pre-7am flights I had a grand time catching up with some folks I haven’t seen in over 10 years in some cases. I also saw Bad Santa while I was there– too funny! We all know that a man getting struck in the nutsack is funny, but this had possibly one of the best testicle bashing scenes since America’s funniest home videos showed their first man-getting-hit-in-the-groin-with-football clip.

Something takes a piece of me…

I went to see a Korn show at the Aragon Ballroom last Wednesday. Limp Bizkit opened for them. I have to say that fame must be one fickle dame. I saw Limp in front of a crowd of 6 thousand screaming fans a few years ago, the other night they were all but booed off the stage, better luck next time Fred.

JD and Korn on the other hand were outstanding! My only complaint was because it was a weekday concert they only played for an hour and a half tops. Well, that and the fact that the pit was pathetic, but you can’t really blame the band for that.
:)

Listen to this!

Rather than re-invent the wheel here’s a post I put on ClanMage’s boards the other day looking for some advice:
I know we got at at least a few hifi wizards around this joint so I thought I’d get a few opinions.

I’m big into digital music, I really feel its the future of music. As I was organizing and weeding out my current MP3 collection (down to 15 GBs from 21, all 224+ kbps full albums, mostly my own rips) I realized.. my computer speakers kinda suck considering how much music I listen to on them.

Heck I paid easily 20 times more on all the components of the stereo in the living room and the only time I listen to it is when I’m watching DVDs/watching TV.

So I’m on a quest for a better set of computer speakers.
You’ll notice only one 4 channel system in this list since the primary use of the speakers will be music not games.

These are the front runners so far:

Polk Audio AMR 150

Bose Companion 3
Bose’s site sucks so you’ll have to surf to them.

Cambridge Soundworks Megaworks 210D

Klipsch Promedia 2.1

Swan M200 (or possibly the M20s with the sub)

Any other ideas and/or/feedback anyone?
The current budget is trying to stay below $250, although I may go over that.

Well maybe I’m back..

So life is kicking me hard these days but here’s a quick /. style update:
Personally:
1. My job sucks and one of my bosses stresses me out beyond belief.
2. My home computer is dying the slow death of a faulty HD
3. Women baffle me while keeping me eternally amused.
Computer wise:
1. I registered my own domain! ianknox.net has finally been relinquished by the squatters that sat on it for a few years. You can get here now by just hitting blog.ianknox.net
2. Itunes for windows is waaaaaaay too cool! Check out this link for my current Mp3 collection (warning HUGE page generated by Xml/XSLT- not for dial up probably.)
3. I’ve decided that Microsoft is even more the devil since trying to set up one of their Commerce 2002 servers. OMG what a pain in the ass.

Thats all for now. I might start writing on this thing again soon, we’ll see.. life…
