Half-Marathon Time

Wheeeeee!

My feet hurt a little but it was worth every mile!
At 2:14:43 that makes for a 10:14 second mile which was pretty dang close to what I was shooting for (10:00/mile or under).

In case you are confused like I was: Chiptime is the actual time I ran the race in. Finish time was the time I would have finished the race had I been at the starting line at the begining of the race Of course with 7 thousand people in the race only a few cross the start line when the gun goes off and they’re the bastards who ran it with times like 1:10.

Next year the full 26.2!
(I must be crazy)

I meant to put this up a while ago, but it’s been this way for three weigh-ins in a row so I guess it’s official.

Booyah:
Under 200 for the first time in years

Under two hundred pounds for the first time since my sophomore year of college and man it feels great.

This just goes to show you what a good exercise regiment and a reasonable caloric intake can do.

Goodbye Jump

I’m not quite sure how I missed this one..

I think that I have written and re-written this note about a dozen times, or more. Both in my head, and on paper; the goal here is to be as clear as possible, and I keep feeling that I’m just not cutting it. So here’s take Thirteen:

This fall will be the last full Jump tour for a while. Though you’ll start seeing it in the press (it’s great for our publicity team), we personally are going to shy away from the term “Final Tour??? because Cher and KISS have been bandying that phrase around, falsely, for years. But at this point, we’re taking a break. A good long one.

The short explanation is this: we want to wind down with a bang. We love this job and don’t want to get to the point where we don’t.

I first saw Jump (Then called Jump Little Children) At the North Carolina School for the Arts summer arts program in 1995. I was fifteen years old.

Over the last ten years I’ve seen them every chance I’ve gotten across three different states and in every venue you can think of.

I’ll miss those guys– I hope I get a chance to buy them a beer when they come through Chicago for the last time.

*cry*

Family, Immediate and Otherwise
Ian | 7/28/2005 | 10:00 am

Well the first three reviews for the Tantalus Theatre Group‘s new musical Slide have hit the web-o-sphere and the papers and they are pretty good. You can read them yourself if you want. With some luck the upcoming ones will be positive as well.

Slide is the first thing that the TTG has done that I have not been involved with at all. I realized after watching it three times that A: it’s very good and B: I’m proud of it. Why am I proud of something I’m not involved with you might ask?

Family.

It’s really strange but all of the members of TTG have really become family to me and by extension of that familial connection I have the emotion of pride for something we (the family) have accomplished.

Speaking of family my brother, who I don’t get to see often enough, was in town last weekend and we had a blast despite my nasty bought of what we believe to be food poisoning.

Here’s he and I at the ballpark.
Ian and Brother

Sadly, this was the one event I had to forgo due to being sick, I left about 1/2 way through batting practice. Luckily I did make it to the Vans Warped Tour the following day and rocked out with the Offspring, MxPx, No Use For a Name, The Dropkick Murphys, Mest, Motion City Soundtrack and the like. I’ll post a few pictures of that when my bro gets them developed.

I guess I’ll have to catch the RedSox next time.

My Head Has Changed Colors
Ian | 7/28/2005 | 9:37 am

I was having a few drinks with friends a few weeks ago whilst awaiting the Harry Potter book release (well, they were awaiting… I was adrinking). And the topic of hair coloring came up.

Me: I’ve always wanted to dye my hair but I’ve always been in a show or just not thinking about it.

Friend of mine: Well… you’re not in a show now….

Me: This is true…

The next afternoon:

Ian as a blonde

Personally I like it! It’s tre Billy Joe.

Awoken By Thunderstorms

The best part about being roused from a sound sleep by a crack of thunder at 5:something a.m.?

Having the extra time to make breakfast:
Early Morning Breakfast

For a while now I’ve been pondering putting recipes and pictures of stuff that I cook on line. This isn’t exactly much of a recipe so I’ve opted not to start here but look for my creations and favorite recipes coming soon.

P.S. No comments about the Santa mug! I love Santa, he brings me the correct amount of coffee every morning, even if it’s not Christmas.

Yeaaah… Booooo
Ian | 5/12/2005 | 7:36 am

Yeaaah:

  • I got my passport from the feds with no problems almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Toronto here I come.
  • David and Lisa finally opened so I can get back to near daily trips to the gym.
  • I’m working on a new completely CSS driven version of the Tantalus Theatre Group‘s web page and it’s working out better than I expected (so far).

Booooo:

  • HBO canceled my favorite TV show Carnivale.
  • I keep thinking about someone I dated for a while. She turns up in some of my oddest thoughs and it’s very not cool. For some reason what she did doesn’t seem like enough to stop me from wanting to call her up, even though it should be. :(

My life as a fnord.

Frozen in Carbonite!
Ian | 4/19/2005 | 2:35 pm

As one of my friends pointed out the other day: “Dude, you like, don’t blog at ALL anymore.”

So please consider this blog locked in frozen carbonite. At some point someone will come along and push the button that releases it, but for the time being (read: probably this whole summer) It will remain in active or sporadically active at best.

Not this doesn’t mean I’m having problems , at least not more than usual… I’ve just got better things to do and too many of them.

It’s a nice day out, go play in the park.

I know! I’ve been busy!
Ian | 2/21/2005 | 9:02 am

I realize it must seem that I’ve abandoned this blog but I’ve just been really busy. There is much to be discussed but 20 hours a week of rehearsal for Ragnarok really cuts into the blog writing time something wicked.

One brief thing I do have time to say though. Screw you blog spammers who have forced me to turn off trackbacks until I find a better solution. I mean really, look at my site! I don’t even display trackbacks!

Asses all of you.

Oh and for those who asked, well into three weeks of non-smoking! Well I take that back, I have cheated once.. but only once and only one cigarette so I still count it as a victorious campaign so far. Next week I switch from the 21mg patch to the lower dosage one (17mg I think). This is where things start to get dicey because the entire time thus far I’ve just been battling the mental side of the addiction, the physical side is yet to come.

I will fu^$#@g kill you all.
Ian | 2/4/2005 | 9:58 am

My savior

Time to try it again.

30 hours and counting.

Amount saved per year by not smoking: $2190.00

Average life expectancy increased per year: 1 month 21 days

Average number of people I wanted to kill with something large, heavy and painful before quitting smoking: 3-5

Average number of people I wanted to kill with something large, heavy and painful after quitting smoking: all of them

I can do this, I swear.

*bites nails and sweats it out*
